One of the best programs in Diamond Dynasty has returned for MLB The Show 25, and the Egg Hunt program's mix of mysteries and Easter-themed surprises makes for a fun rebirth this year.
Program Overview
The basics of the Egg Hunt program are what they have perennially been in Diamond Dynasty: Players are given an XP reward path to complete that will require not the usual straightforward assortment of Moments, XP Missions, Showdowns, and so forth, but a set of "Mystery Missions" that have clues -- some more cryptic than others -- for players to puzzle through on their own hoppy trails or with the help of the DD community, and a series of Eggs to find within the game by completing various hidden tasks.
Fortunately for you, if you're reading this, we have worked out the answers to these riddles, and this post contains the correct solutions and methods to make the Egg Hunt program as easy to complete as any other in Diamond Dynasty. But if you DO NOT want the joy of working through the mystery of the Egg Hunt program spoiled, rest assured that we will not spoil the answers until a little lower in this post, and will be very clear where those spoilers start.
The rewards for this year's Egg Hunt are maybe not quite the best in the program's history, but are topped in the XP reward path by an 89 OVR Jazz Chisholm Jr. that reflects his hot start to 2025 with the Yankees and makes a compelling case as one of the game's better second basemen. If not for the cleverly chosen player in Chase Pack 6 -- a really good 91 OVR Chase Utley -- and the real best Egg Hunt player, that Chisholm might well be a mainstay in a lot of lineups even at the top end of DD.
En route to Jazz on the XP reward path are an 86 OVR Joe Boyle, an 87 OVR Logan O'Hoppe (do you get it?), and an 88 OVR Riley Greene, and the path also includes 40,000 Season XP, six The Show packs, a Golden Egg Icon cosmetic, and a Deluxe Egg Hunt pack, which rewards a chance at that aforementioned best Egg Hunt player, an 89 OVR Jorge Polanco that is called out as a "special insert player item." Polanco is forever one of Diamond Dynasty's more coveted players, as a switch-hitting second baseman with both Contact and Power from both sides of the plate, and having third base as a secondary position only makes this card better.
There is also an Egg Hunt collection that contains 89 OVR Pete Crow-Armstrong, 89 OVR Ryan McMahon -- if you are counting, the third different 89+ OVR player with eligibility at second baseman debuting in DD this Friday -- and a 90 OVR Jacob DeGrom as rewards for collecting seven, 18, and 28 Egg Hunt series players. The PCA is a hilariously-statted speedster, with literally every stat from Bunting rightward on his player card maxed out at 99, but his hitting stats leave much to be desired. McMahon is a superb lefty bat with good defense and low speed for an infielder. But DeGrom is a bit of a disappointment, relatively speaking, with his velocity and Outlier on his fastball being his calling cards and a bunch of fine-but-not-fantastic peripheral stats making this version of him, tied to his current tenure with the Rangers, a bit less than his dominant best.
Other useful Egg Hunt players from packs include an 89 OVR Tim Raines with 100+ Contact from both sides of the plate, an 89 OVR Rickey Henderson whose mediocre Power undermines his great Contact numbers and perfect Speed, an 87 OVR Wade Boggs with both Contact numbers and Batting Clutch in the triple digits, and an 87 OVR Edward Cabrera bound to be annoying but not as game-breaking as his legendary Future Stars card once was.
Completing the Egg Hunt Program

The Egg Hunt tasks are broken up into three categories: Moments, Mystery Missions, and a Collection -- er, Colleggtion. The 100 Stars on the XP reward path will come mostly via the latter two sections, as the Moments are only worth 1 Star each, but each of the 10 Mystery Missions rewards 5 Stars and the collection, which requires 5 of the Eggs scattered throughout Diamond Dynasty, rewards 50 Stars for completion.
The Mystery Missions are as follows:
- Trivia Night: "Looks like you could use some quality help from the last switch-hitter to win AL MVP." To complete this, record a quality start with any Vida Blue -- who is, yes, the last switch-hitter to win AL MVP, even though he a) did so in 1971 and b) did so as a pitcher. (A quality start requires six innings pitched and three or fewer runs allowed, but it can be earned in MLB The Show in a three-inning game by pitching two innings and giving up one or fewer runs.)
- Wait a Second: "Wait a moment. Notice anything strange?" To complete this, record a win with Randy Johnson.
- Woah There, Slow Down: "Slow down, take it easy. It's just the CPU." To complete this, record a double in a Play vs. CPU game with a player with less than 15 Speed.
- Swordfish: "Sword. Fish. Get it? This one should be pretty easy." To complete this, strike out with Mike Trout. A sword has become slang for a strikeout, and Trout is, obviously, a fish by surname.
- Tax Season: "It's April, which means it's the season of withholding. Better check twice just to be sure." To complete this, record two holds in Mini Seasons. (A hold is recorded when a pitcher records at least one out while maintaining a lead.)
- Let's Roll: "It's always a nice feeling to get the best outcome when rolling through games." To complete this, record six hits in a single Diamond Quest game -- hits in challenges, Mini Boss Showdowns, and the final Stadium Showdowns all count, but the latter two -- and especially a Stadium Showdown on Rookie difficulty -- will make accruing hits much easier.
- Big Conquest Mystery: "GET A SAVE WITH A LEFT-HANDED PITCHER IN CONQUEST. EDIT THIS TEXT TO BE MYSTERIOUS BEFORE SENDING." To complete this, uh, get a save with a left-handed pitcher in Conquest. It is what it says on the tin!
- Small Ball: "Keep it small. Keep it mini. Keep it simple." To complete this, tally one sacrifice hit -- any of a sacrifice hit, sacrifice bunt, or a sacrifice fly should work -- in Mini Seasons.
The easiest way to do all of this will still require a single Play vs. CPU game with Vida Blue recording a quality start and a bunch of slow hitters trying for doubles; a Conquest game with Randy Johnson earning a win, and a lefty pitcher recording a save; two Mini Seasons games with holds, and one with some sort of sacrifice hit; and a Diamond Quest game with six hits. And somewhere in there, Mike Trout needs to whiff. All told, that's probably a couple hours of gameplay, none of which should be all that hard; all of these games can be played on Rookie, after all.
What might be somewhat difficult is having the players on hand to complete the player-specific missions. Obtaining the Diamond Vida Blue from the Common Courtesy program will help with that, though going six strong in a Play vs. CPU matchup with even the Common Blue should be possible. Obtaining the Silver Trout from the Angels Team Affinity reward path makes that mission trivial. The Silver Randy Johnson is also easy to obtain through the Mariners Team Affinity.
The Eggs (really Egg Vouchers) are as follows:
- Purple Egg: Complete all of the Moments in the Egg Hunt program.
- Green Egg: Win the left Stadium Challenge in the Egg Hunt Diamond Quest. (While players could theoretically win the Stadium Challenge and not receive the voucher by losing and/or forfeiting on the way to the Stadium Challenge, the odds of obtaining one are very good.)
- Blue Egg: Win the right Stadium Challenge in the Egg Hunt Diamond Quest. (See above.)
- Red Egg: Capture the Royals and Rockies Strongholds in the Bunny Ears Conquest map.
- Yellow Egg: Capture the Marlins and Rays Strongholds in the Bunny Ears Conquest map.
- Pink Egg: Strike out 25 times in online games.
- Orange Egg: Get on base 25 times in online games.
Needing only five of the seven Eggs/Egg Vouchers to complete the collection means players can do so completely offline without the Pink and Orange Egg or without playing one of Diamond Quest or Conquest. As getting on base 25 times in online games is unlikely to be a quick task without obvious boosting, it might be advisable to just err on the side of offline grinding here.
Between the Moments, Mystery Missions, and Eggs, this Egg Hunt program will likely take the better part of an evening of grinding to complete. For just the Chisholm Jr. at the end of the XP reward path, that doesn't feel like a great use. But with the rewards that players will essentially have to earn along the way, it's a respectable haul of packs, players, and XP -- and, as always, a fun bit of less guided gaming within Diamond Dynasty to break up the monotony of the usual grind.
